Play Guitar hero for free from your PC
Most of you probably already know this, some of you don’t, many of you are looking for a single place to download all the GH songs at one time…
Well since long time ago a clone of Guitar Hero Exists for the PC, it is published under the GNU and it is free, I recently compiled a series of torrents with most of the titles and songs available and here they are for download.
The name of the Game is Frets on Fire (FoF) and there is a extension a mod or something… called FoFix, some no lives have taken the time to create a mod so the aspect of the game is such of Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock.
The game is meant originally to be played with the PC keyboard, using the F1 to F5 keys plus enter and some others all the features of the Guitar hero series have been implemented such as:
Star power: By hitting all the notes with a star in sequence you earn a power to miss notes, with out decreasing your rocking level nor loosing your score multiplier
Whammy bar: By hitting a selected key during the notes marked with a long line you earn more score and more stars…
Solo: a part of the song where you play by yourself.
Others… Come on play and discover.
There is also the point of using a Guitar controller in the PC;
The Wired Xbox 360 guitar works directly upon hooking it to an USB port in Vista. (need to D/L a driver for XP)
The Wireless Xbox 360 needs a USB adaptor (amazon sells them for 20$)
The Wireless PS3 Les Paul Guitar works out of the box both in XP and Vista (however it is a crappy guitar)
The PS2 controllers need an Adaptor…
Most of the guitars are seen by the OS as Joysticks, and the game supports them, so be it with a Keyboard or a Guitar controller, now you can have fun W/O a console or buying the Game.
The game requires a Powerful 3D accelerator, and under Vista do not works very well with some NVIDIA cards.

Guitar Hero I : 47 songs (no bonus songs)
Guitar Hero II : 65 songs (includes bonus songs)
Guitar Hero III: 46 songs (no DLC or bonus songs)
Guitar Hero Metallica : 29 songs (only Metallica songs plus Enter Sandman added)
Rock Band : 58 songs (no bonus songs)
There are also 2 Aerosmith songs in a folder titled “FoFnet”: Living On The Edge & Pink.
If you like the game thank to the developers, I just host their work. And consolidated their crappy free Download sites that make you wait and see pub and crap.

If you want the career mode to work you need to look for the modified INI files for the songs. so they become locked and get unlocked as you advance.
Mini instructions:
D/L The game and install
D/L the Mod if you like (it looks great!)
D/L the song Pack and drop in the songs folder of your installation
D/L Start the game navigate to choose your song, wait for the first time for a index of the songs to be created and ROCK!
